Make "Save As" open new tab

Postby Ryan Williams » Mon Apr 23, 2007 5:37 pm

It'd be really nice if there was the option of making "Save As" open a new tab with the new file and keep the previous version intact (for example if you have one file and are making a new one based on it).

I tend to create duplicate pages all the time for static sites this way, but every time I do it I have to open up the old file again after using "Save As" so I can continue working on it along with the new one.

To me this seems more logical from a workflow perspective, anyway.

neat idea. I'd just call it 'duplicate' though ala photoshop.

I generally make a new file, go the orig, select all, copy, paste into the new, save.

I agree with this idea. I'm forever doing that too. Saving a file as a new name and having to open up the original to modify it.

I have written this down. If we get more votes, I will seriously consider this for the todo as the implementation is not very difficult.
