How about a menu with favorite files to quickly open them? It could be added in the "file" menu near "open from" and "reopen". The user can choose which files he wants to be in this list.
As alternative solution, a feature to stick files in the "reopen" list would have the same effect.
I have some files I often need to edit and change, irrespective which project I'm working on. And because it is not in the reopen list I always have to manually browse for it again in the open-dialog.
