One of the most requested features for the editors is having close buttons for document tabs. Since this would change the current functionality, we want to hear your opinion.
Pros:
don't have to middle click to close tab, which is useful when not using a mouse.
Cons:
all tabs get significantly wider to accommodate the close button.
may accidentally close the tab while trying to select it by clicking.
Neutral:
having close button is more consistent with Web browsers, however there are way too many differences in how IDE and Web browsers are used. The main difference is that switching between the tabs happens way more often when programming in IDE than when browsing.

I voted for It wouldn't bother me and I thought I'd say why.
Taking a look at the various editors & browsers I have installed WeBuilder is the only one that does not have close buttons on the tabs.
Problem is there is no constancy in the implementation of the close buttons, some show on all tabs others just when the mouse is on the tab.
But the reason that I'm not bothered is that I never use the close buttons anyway. I find it much easier to middle-click on the tab to close, rather than trying to click on a tiny x at the edge of a tab.
And the middle-click works on all programs I have tested.
Just my thoughts on this as I know it's all down to personal preference.
Actually, the more I think about it I'd prefer not to have the close buttons, makes it harder to accidentally close a tab when selecting it. Personally it would be good to have an option in all programs to have the close button or not...
I think making this a 3 way option in Options>Preferences>General would be the best route to take (and why not?).
Close buttons on tabs:
Always show
Show only on current
Hidden
Everybody wins and everybody is happy, no?
I would use 'Always show' on my laptop (the trackpad has no middle button) but on my desktop, I would use the other two depending on which one looks good to me, but probably the show on current option.
