Important Feature Request: Regular Expressions

Postby ghopper » Tue Feb 28, 2006 7:45 pm

I personally think full support for Regular Expressions should be a priority, rather than adding support for ASP.NET etc ( just give users the ability to create their own syntax highlighting file ).

A few regex library are mentioned at the bottom of this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regular_expressions

Regular expressions are already supported in Find and Find in Files.

Thanks for the info, but it's not support for "full" regular expressions

For example I couldn't do the following:

Text: House 1234 House 3455 House 5677

Find : House ([0-9]{1,4})
Replace: Mouse \1

Should then be: Mouse 1234 Mouse 3455 Mouse 5677

Rapid PHP is really a nice piece of software, nice GUI, nice setup etc, but in my opinion 2 vital parts are missing:

1. Full support for regular expressions
2. Ability for end users to create syntax highlighting, autocomplete etc ( would give you the developer more time to focus on other things, rather than implementing syntax highlighting for each language request )

Anyway, I'm currently evaluating different text editors and I hope Rapid PHP 2006 will have better RegEx support. If so, consider yourself to have a new customer ;)

Regular expressions are supported only for Find, for replace we hope to implement it in the future versions. This might come soon - within a couple of months.

The second one has already been requested but due to tech difficulties it won't come soon or easy.
