Integer Overflow Error

Postby preiter71 » Fri Mar 30, 2007 4:58 pm

I'm using Microsoft Vista with a Dell D620 Laptop, about 2GB of RAM and about 30GB free on the HD...60GB HD.

I load in about 68 PNG files that are around 30KB each. Everything loads fine and I can animate the images in the program. When I click SAVE and enter the file name as let's say test.gif, then click SAVE, the computer waits about 15 seconds and gives me the Integer Overflow error. The program stays running but I'm not able to save the file. I can save as an AVI but my Media Player won't read the codec.

The version is 4.03.

Thanks.

Does this only happen with the exact files you mentioned? Could you submit these files to us for testing?

Yes, it does happen only with these files. I tried about 90 JPG webcam images and they worked fine.

I then went back to the PNG files and found that if I did 35 it worked fine, but if I did 36 I got the Integer Overflow Error.

I'll send them to you if you wish. What address should I e-mail them to?

Thanks.

I have a interger overflow problem with saving my animation. 11 frames originally with fade set to 1 second per frame giving 110 frames in total. Is there a maximum number of frames that can be used? Is there a way for me to overcome this problem? If not, is there a format I can send the file to you to be checked?

many thanks

As a test, have you tried using, say, 40 frames, then 60, 80, etc, to see where the problem lies?

You should try to keep your number of frames to minimum. If you use fade effect you can quickly generate tons of frames. GIF format was not designed for huge sequences, so there might be problems with hundreds of frames especially if they are big pixel-wise.

Try shortening the effect time or smoothness twice.

Karlis - looking at your comments, I think it may be something to do with the pixel size - each frame is 125 x 2000 pixels. I will try all other suggestions - thanks Karlis/Chriss

2000 pixels wide? Thats HUGE!! 111 frames of that size? No wonder is complaining.

125 w x 2000 h

works with 3 frames of that size with 2 sec intervals - still testing to see how far I can pile it up before it starts to grumble
