Is there a way to wrap a text marquee?

Postby Aza » Mon Jan 27, 2014 1:05 am

I'm working with plain text. I want the text to scroll (slide) in from the right and scroll out to the left. That works perfectly thank you.

But is it possible to get the text to wrap?

What I mean is that the text begins to repeat one or two frames after the last bit of text is drawn. Think of one of those long narrow "zipper" sign outside a building scrolling the news, As soon as the last character of the last headline appears the first character of the first headline will appear. That's what I mean by "wrapping".

It's not the end of the earth if Easy GIF Animator isn't up to the task, but it's a handy animation if you want to annoy the heck out of a website visitor. In my case I want them to pick a region so I can dial in all the regional particulars before making the navigation active. Once they pick a region the animation is replaced with more cordial static text naming the selected region (ya gotta love the DOM model).

At the moment some visitors are getting frustrated because they are so intent on navigating to the promised information that they didn't spot the static request to first pick a region.

Oh yeah, how about a stand-in background color when previewing white text on a transparent background. It's kinda hard to do a white on transparent preview at the moment. I figured I'd throw that one in while I'm bitching and moaning.

regardless of my complaining, Easy GIF Animator Pro is a good product. I was up and running in about 15 minutes -- that ain't bad from a application that's not totally brain dead.

Currently that's not possible automatically, but can be done with some manual post-processing.

Create your non-looping text effect, then select part with text coming in from the 1st frame like this:

Select further frame that has enough free space on the left side to paste to, like this:

Similarly do with the 2nd frame, and so on:

Afterwards delete the beginning frames that you copied from

I'll note the white background issue.

Airvars you are one devious dude!

That's a very clever work around. Once I got the hang of the pacing it was tedious but worked nicely.

Thanks for walking me through something I should have been able to figure out if I knew the software a bit better.
