Making a multi-part fade smooth...

I am trying to take two photos and have them fade into one another repeatedly, smoothly. What I get is that the First photo loads with the page, then the fade occurs, and then the image "pops" back to the first image in a rather unappealing way when the fade of the second photo is complete.

Is there a way to get a looping fade that never "pops" back to the first photo? The problem seems to be that you can only fade 2 photos, but that may be me not knowing what I'm doing : ).

Any assistance would be greatly appreicated.

Let's suppose you have 2 images - Image 1 and Image 2.
Create animation from 3 frames using Image 1, Image 2 and Image 1 again. Then you can simply create fade from Image 1 to Image 2 and another fade back from Image 2 to Image 1.

The thing is that the Fade effect only seems to work with two images. Is there a way to have more than two? I can't seem to find it if there is.

Fade works from image to another image - that's 2 images indeed It is not a problem fading from one image and then fading again back. Just make sure you select the frame you want to fade from, before pressing "Create Image Effect".

Update:
Here, let me post step by step tutorial:
1. Select menu File > New
2. Add 2 images to the animation so that you have animation of 2 frames
3. Select first frame
4. Press "Create Image Effect", select Fade and press Ok.
5. Select last frame of the animation
6. Press "Create Image Effect", select Fade and press Ok.

There, preview your animation.
