A bit off-topic.

When is the version 2008 planned? I know it's still a lot of work to do, but is it let's say 1st/2nd/3rd/4th quarter of 2008?

And what are the features we can expect in 2008?

Thanks!

The most realistic release time for 2008 is March - April 2008.

New features will include a lot, too much to mention, SFTP support, improved code editor, improved code collapse, improved regular FTP, improved File Explorer, SVN support, improved debugger for PHP, very advanced Ruby language support, improved Library, code templates, new shortcuts and helpers to do things more quickly, auto bracket complete, auto brakcet indenting, maybe improved USB stick support (problem fixes) over 200 other big and tiny bits as well.

We will still keep the small file size and speed. The package size increase will be no more than 1.2 Mb, the load time will be the same or faster in some occasions.

Karlis,

I'm still in to help with the snippets library. Maybe we should start a sticky thread in the 'self help' section: "Post your best snippets here" with a note that the most useful ones will end up in the 2008 library.

Code weight

Postby marito » Wed Dec 12, 2007 4:37 am

I'm happier with every upgrade, but concerned about software FUTURE code weight increment. I have chosen Rapid PHP because it's a complete & powerful LIGHTWEIGHT software. Please maintain that feature, consider improving instead of ADDING. Competitors develop their nasty expensive heavy soft, this software is unique.
THANK YOU!

But of course, we plan to kep the speed on the same level or even improve it. Making the software slower or much bigger is not an option.

I currently have HTMLPad 2006. Will I be able to upgrade to the 2008 version? If so, any idea what the fee will be?

Yes, of course you will be able to upgrade straight to version 2008. The upgrade price is not currently known, but it should not differ too much from what it is now:
