WeBuilder 2008 Beta 1 (limited access)

New release and update announcements

Postby Gatis » Tue Apr 01, 2008 7:30 am

We have not yet updated the Help file, but will do this in the full version.
What the "callword" means, is that you can enter a token in that field.

Inside code editor, you can press Ctrl-J and all snippets that have an assigned "callword", will be shown in an auto-complete list. Once you choose one item from that list, it will be inserted in your text.

Hi Karlis.

As a registered user, if this beta version expires, will we be able to re-install?

Thanks :)

I would like to see some more features from textmat and e-editor added to webbuilder. This would make WeBuilder the best there is.

Yes, you will be able to switch back to 2007 or stay with 2008 if you upgrade.

Big things can not be achieved in one day. ;) Step by step, we will try to improve things so that most would benefit from them.

Faster

Postby garethjmsaunders » Thu Apr 10, 2008 11:35 pm

Just checking out WeBuilder 2008 and immediately I can feel how much faster and more responsive this version is. It's great. I can't wait until it's stable, out and I can upgrade. Good work folks.

Another thing I've noticed is that in WeBuilder 2007 in File Explorer > Projects if I had highlighted a subfolder of the main project folder and then changed projects I would sometimes get an error message because it seemed to be trying to find the same-named subfolder as the last project I was in. So I would always have to remember to select the root folder before switching projects. This appears to have been fixed in 2008. Good stuff.

SVN support in the File Explorer is great -- thanks for including this.

I look forward to checking out other features. One of the great things about WeBuilder is that I've been using it since version 6.3 (WeBuilder 2005) and I'm still finding new features. Almost always I'll think "I wish it did... and it almost always does. Brilliant. Thanks.

We all want WB 2009 today. But... we all also want it to be advanced, flawless piece of art with as much bells and whistles as possible.

So, let's put our cheese helmets on and just be patient some more, so Karli's team can create just that.

What about leaving the year (2008, 2009 etc) and using only version numbers (8.50, 9.00 and so on..) instead?

So creator/programmers won't urge things unnecessarily, to release a new version each year.

I would like to try the 2008 beta, but don't get very far as your set up does not like that I have the 2006 version.
Any way to try the 2008 version???

Hi Longa,

That should not be - they install in different folders by default !

I have 2006/2007 & 2008 all installed !

What exactly stops you installing it ?
Error message ?

cheers, Dave Porter

I did not express myself clearly.
When I try to download the 2008 version it just says that I have specified the wrong product. Did not even get that far to install the beta version.

I'm still a bit confused, the link above is just a normal link that downloads an exe file - nothing should stop it downloading !

Or do you mean you can download it, but then can't run it ?

I just tested it again and the link still works OK, but it did take around 20 to 30 seconds before the save dialog in Firefox let me click save...

cheers, Dave
