Block MSN

Postby ultgames » Fri Sep 08, 2006 4:08 pm

Hi..Is there anyway to block certain programs? Like the opposite of the allowed program list. I want to be able to block access to MSN messenger even during the times when web access has been allowed.

Many thanks

Currently you can easily block everything while allowing only selected programs and services.

However by using the following advanced technique, you can block MSN Only:

1) Open iNet Protector Settings
2) Open Allowed Services tab and click Add, to create a new entry
3) Name the new service "All but MSN Messenger"
4) For TCP Port Numbers enter the following (exactly as shown below):

1-442;444-65025;

5) Go to allowed programs, add your web browser(s)
6) In the iNet Protector click "Disable Internet" and close MSN Messenger. You should not be able to log in to MSN Messenger anymore, however everything else should work ok.

I found the solution for disable msn messenger despite allowing web access..Well, in the "Allowed Services" ...i have check all except "Web browsing" and "Allow all except web browsing". Then go to "Allowed Programs" and add the internet browser you want...e.g Firefox , Iexplore. Correct me if I'm wrong.
