Easy CSS Menu 4 - small --> big menu (preview)

Postby earthcomedy » Sun Dec 28, 2014 7:13 am

Hello

running ecm 4 and having an issue. I have the menu layed out, but when I go to preview the menu increases in size during the preview. I've checked browser zoom level it is set at 100% so it should look the same as how the menu looks in ECM4. Any thoughts?

Can you make and send us a video to demonstrate this? In theory this shouldn't happen as EBMM uses browser internally to display the menu, so the menu should look the same.

sorry for the delayed response. Not sure how to make a video yet...but here are the images.

Again, zoom level of browser is at 100%. If you right click on the bottom image and VIEW IMAGE...you will see the browser level at 100%, it's cut off in the post.

Thanks

Do you happen to have custom DPI set in your Windows settings (Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display) i.e. enlarged text?

Yes, apparently Chrome zooms in when you set it to 125%. I'll add this to issues list and we'll decide what to do about it if anything. I'm not sure zooming in is the right choice as all widths are specified in pixels and if you have button width set to e.g. 100px then it's actually displayed at 125px when zoomed in due to 125%, which could be deceiving. As it is now, EBMM displays everything at the pixel-perfect size.
This suggests that it's a Chrome bug https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issu ... ?id=395425 although they might have made it purposely that way.

I was viewing it in Firefox not Chrome.

Still, it's all the same. The browsers increase everything by 125% on your computer while EBMM displays the pixel-perfect size. If EBMM also zooms in then pixel-perfectness is lost which might be a bad thing so we need to consider this carefully before changing anything.

Doing some more investigation on this....here is what I found....I didn't quite understand your answer in relation to the problem....I thought I did, but now I don't.

Display set to 100% zoom level - "Small"

Menu bar shows at 814 pixels wide - look ok in Easy CSS and Preview

Here is again with 125% zoom level - Medium (Default)

Menu bar shows at 908 pixels wide - different as you can see. Wouldn't it be the same?

So at 100% zoom the preview (And resulting menu bar) works fine, but at 125% is doesn't.

I don't recall having this problem in Easy CSS Menu 3 I think...because I have the menu working on a live site right now and my zoom level has always been at 125%.

You're right, it should be 814px wide in both screenshots. I'm not entirely sure what's going on, I'll pass this to the team for investigation.

Thanks, I think this occurred in EBMM4 as well....but I'll need to test it. Will advise.

Update: - Yes it does at 125%,I didn't try it at 100% because I dont want to reboot my system at this time. I would assume you use the same code base?

any more updates on this? Have you been able to reproduce and fix the problem yet? ETA?

I want to fix the touchscreen (hybrid laptop) / chrome bug, but I can't update the menu until this sizing thing is fixed...thanks.

You can set 100% zoom, export the menu and then return to 125%. This problem is in the queue and most likely there will be a bigger update that fixes several issues not only this one, I just don't know when.
