What happened to my Pro License?

A few months ago (on 6/26/17) I purchased the latest version of your Easy CSS Menu Pro software from your site (Order no. 60727876) to use as part of a major upgrade for a web project I was working on. The software I received was version 4.3. It was marked © 2007 – 2015. Although I found it mostly worked, I found it inadequate for my project because I required a menu product that would auto-wrap and display on multiple lines (which v4.3 did nicely) on a wide-enough screen; but could contract all the way down to a one-line hamburger menu (which v4.3 did NOT do) on a narrower screen.

As a result at the time, all I did was build test menus to explore your product’s capabilities and concluded it just wasn’t strong enough to meet our needs.

As it happened, other events and priorities intervened shortly thereafter; and because of them we were forced to set the web project aside temporarily. Today, we picked it up again and in visiting your site I found recent forum posts that told me an “update” to the “2016” version was now available. However, they did NOT tell me the version number had changed or that there would be charge for this 2016 “update”. Indeed, when I checked these forums, I found that on April 20, 2017 Karlis posted this thread (viewtopic.php?f=15&t=7205#p25077) which said:

Today we are releasing a major update to version 2016. As you may have noticed instead of releasing regular small updates we do this in bigger batches. Think of this update as a “service pack”.

---------

When I looked at your update policy it implied updates are free to licensed users. This was no surprise to me because most vendors don’t charge for “service pack” updates. So, I downloaded the release and installed it.

You can imagine my surprise when I discovered the “service pack Update” to the “2016” version I purchased on June 26, 2017 was actually handled as a totally different RELEASE of your product. Because of that my so-called “Pro” license had “expired” and I need pay an additional $29.95 fee to download and test the update! To add insult to injury, your documentation and help files STILL are not CLEAR enough to tell me whether this new version supports menus that collapse all the way down to a hamburger menu on a narrower screen or not.

Basically, I feel screwed and unhappy here. I’m BOTH a pro web developer and a lifelong (49 years) software developer (since 1968) too. As a Pro, I go out of my way to search for and license professional products rather than screw around with outdated demo-ware. However, also as a Pro, I fully expect to get treated fairly by developers too. In essence what you did was describe an update released BEFORE I licensed your product as a “Service Pack” release. Then two months later you DELIVERED the prior year’s (2015) software version to me AS IF it was the latest version AND you charged me for the Pro license too. And NOW when I try to download the version I thought I was licensing back in June you want to charge me for it a second time. OUCH!

I don’t know about you, but I’d call THAT bate-and-switch; and as a pro, I feel cheated. Frankly, I think that STINKS! So, if you’re unwilling to deliver the latest version to me for free, I will refuse to do business with you ever again.

Thank you. I appreciate your understanding as well as your attention to this matter.

Although your demo-ware's user documentation and help files are completely silent on the subject of hamburger menus, it turns out that your promo/marketing pages for the latest update do at least "mention" the subject. So, by playing with the demo-ware for the version I THOUGHT I licensed back in June but only received via download from your site today, it appears that your current release does support hamburger menus the way I originally expected it to.

So,the question now is will you provide me with an activation code for the latest version for without an additional charge? Or must I pay again for the version I thought I was buying back in June?

Thank you!

I also purchased the V4.3 version and after update the licence is gone. NOt sure if it was personal or pro.

Where could I find the old 4.3 version if I want to roll back?
I am not sure if this update will be worth the money for the few websites I build for my wife.

Please use lost license recovery form to recover the download link to the previous version here: https://www.easycssmenu.com/support.php

If eligible for the free upgrade, the license recovery form will send you the key for the new version instead of the old one.
