Table creation

I am trying to set up a table that in effect will serve the purpose of giving my a 2 column web page.

I want the table as a total page width, with the columns proportioned to be 1st column = 80% of the total page width, and the remainder in column 2, with both columns allowing word wrap.

This will allow me a two column page for free-form typing...

I cannot get this thing right... I've tried it for an hour now, and it still looks like gibberish when I preview it.

Any suggestions?
