WeBuilder FTP session disconnect

Postby Mike Block » Sat Mar 08, 2008 7:21 pm

When WeBuilder 2007 (8.31) loses a connection to a server, it notifies with an information prompt. this is re-polled every minute or so (haven't timed it) and a new prompt is issued by WeBuilder. Aftger a few minutes a whole series of information windows are now open in WeBuilder. Annoying! A proposed solution is to either at least close the current info window before issuing another window, or to use silent NOOP commands to the active FTP session, allowing the connection to stay alive. Perhaps as a really slick option, add a configuration for FTP sessions of when to disconnect. Since WeBuilder is intelligent to reconnect anyway when you try to save a file despite a lost connection, I wonder if this alerting feature is even necessary. Other than having to reconnect the FTP explorer, you can still work uninterrupted. Still, love this application. Was a huge fan of HomeSite till it was ditched, and this is miles ahead in handling app developer's needs. Keep up the great work!
