Several valid CSS properties are shown in red.

Postby pmk65 » Tue Feb 17, 2015 6:39 pm

I created a dummy stylesheet with *all* CSS properties.
Can be downloaded here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2241077/all-css3.css

Loading the stylesheet into Webuilder 2015, shows several valid CSS properties displayed in red color.
So it looks like the "cssdefs" needs to be updated.

Tested in WeBuilder 2015 v13.2.0.164

The majority of the CSS properties in red are either no longer supported or not needed. Browsers are moving away from vendor prefixes and the majority of the ones in red (that are useful) have long since been un-prefixed.
For example; moz-border-radius hasn't been needed since Firefox 3.6 (firefox is on version 35 now), moz-opacity was never needed in a shipping release of Firefox, it was only used in a beta version, a lot of the Flexbox ones mentioned are not using that syntax anymore so it's better that they are not included.

From what I can see the only useful CSS properties in use today that are not currently included in WeBuilder's 'cssdefs' are:
clip-path:
user-select:
zoom:
-webkit-font-smoothing:
-moz-osx-font-smoothing:
-ms-touch-action:
-webkit-text-size-adjust:
-ms-text-size-adjust:

Are there any others that you actually use not included?

The stylesheet you created doesn't include some useful new properties like Flexbox.
Here's a great, very up-to-date list of all CSS properties:

I know and i rarely use them as I use SASS :)
But I tried to include as many as possible, both new and obsolete ones.

filter: I use quite a bit.

I know there's bound to be some missing, but feel free to update it if you spot something missing or wrong.
It might be a good reference for when Blumentals updates the WeBuilder's 'cssdefs' ;)

We try not to include those that are still in drafts (not standard yet) unless they are widely used and supported by all browsers. There have been multiple instances when properties disappear or get changed before reaching standard so using them is production probably not a very good idea. Don't take only my word for it, read what Mozilla says: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/filter (the yellow box), e.g. the "filter" property is still in WD and not supported by IE.

@Aivars: Thanks for clearing that up.
I'll just add "filter" and others I use, manually to my own setup and wait for it the get into standards :)
