Native Support for X64 coming?

Postby dvincent » Mon Jul 14, 2014 4:00 pm

Hi,

I noticed that with windows 7 x64, i have to place a copy of the screensaver in BOTH the c:\windows\system32 and c:\windows\Syswow64 directories. if i just place a copy of the screensaver in the windows\system32 directory i get this message on screensaver launch:

I/O error 103.

the img tags don't seem to be working: here is a link to my evernote shared image:

If i have a copy of the screensaver to the syswow64 directory without a copy in the c:\windows\system32 directory all i get is a flash on the screen and then back to screen. If i leave a copy in both the c:\windows\system32 and c:\windows\syswow64 directory then the screensaver directory.

is there any plans to allow generation of the screensaver in native 64-bit?

Thanks!

Dave

The problem is that native 64-bit screensavers only work on 64-bit Windows while 32-bit screensavers work on both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows. If you're the only one using the screensavers you made it's not a big deal, but if you're distributing the screensavers, you need your screensaver to run on both.
It is recommended that the screensaver is installed in either Windows directory or Program Files to avoid these compatibility issues.
