New release and update announcements

Update: 2015 13.0.0.161

Postby Karlis » Fri Dec 05, 2014 6:51 pm

Today I have the pleasure to announce the initial release of WeBuilder, Rapid PHP, HTMLPad and Rapid CSS 2015. We will continue work on updating 2015 and fixing any issues, of course.

What's new?

Generally:
http://www.webuilderapp.com/whatsnew2015.php

This particular build:
We have fixed some problems with Emmet plugin as well as some minor issues.

Buying and Upgrading

According to our upgrade policy, customers who bought the old version 6 months prior this release today are eligible for a free upgrade. Also everybody with a valid 3-year subscription is eligible for a free upgrade. For more info, click here.

Other existing customers may upgrade for a special price (and the first 300 customers to use coupon code BEFIRST will get a 10% discount on top of the upgrade price).

This is also good time to cross-upgrade between editions e.g. HTMLPad 2014 -> WeBuilder 2015 and between licences e.g. Personal -> Commercial.

We do appreciate your each and every one purchase and upgrade very much as a lot is on stake and the financial results of this version will determine the future of the product. So thank you very very much for being our customers. You are the best!

Moving from old versions to 2015

Most of the settings from 2014 should be ported automatically. When you uninstall your old version, make sure you choose to keep your settings during uninstall. One thing to note is that settings will not transfer from portable to normal and from normal to portable version.

To transfer settings between two portable / USB installs, please copy the settings folder from the old version over the settings folder of the new version. This is not well-tested method but generally should work.

Have questions?

Please first go through our support pages and if the question is not answered there, please contact our support team, you should get an answer within 1 business day or sooner. (while you are always welcome at our support mailbox, 90% of the questions are already answered and you might find your answer within seconds)

Notes

Your "Check for updates" feature might not bring anything up as we do not want everybody to rush on this new release at once. We hope to notify most of the users within the next few weeks but not everybody at once.

Congrats to Karlis & Blumentals on the release of WeBuilder 2015. I've just upgraded - thanks for the additional 10% discount code. :-)

I just reluctantly bought the upgrade. I think the price is little too high, for just some updated specifications/plugins and bug fixes. I like the quick color preview and indent quides (i hope they work in html too).

I hope there will be more (bigger) updates in 2015 - code navigator would be great, or at least the "all-mighty search box".

Few more notes and questions:
- this bug is still present: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=6418&p=22293#p22293
- how do i turn on the code collapse for php? Your screenshots show them on CSS and PHP files. I see only the indent guides.

Thank you.

We had a slight mishap with the coupons, please try again. Sorry and thank you very much for understanding and letting us know! If you already purchased without the coupon, contact the support via e-mail and we'll refund the difference.

I also had an issue with the code BEFIRST, in the end I just paid for the upgrade well worth every penny/cent. For me its the only reason to run a windows system to use this software - Great work.

I wonder if this version will run with wine on a Linux system.

First off: Congratulations on the release of the new version.

But:
I just reluctantly bought the upgrade. I think the price is little too high, for just some updated specifications/plugins and bug fixes.
I agree with the price thingy. I bought WeBuilder 2014 Personal when it came out in Jan 2013 for 33.83 EUR and even with the discount code now this would set me back 28.25 EUR, which for an upgrade is way too high in my opinion. I bought Applications with lifetime upgrades for less than this. I would upgrade for around 15-19 EUR but not almost 30 EUR, especially for the personal version which is mostly bought by people who don't make any money with their projects. I would even consider upgrading for 30 EUR if it included the 3 years upgrade guarantee, since seeing as it took almost 2 years from 2014 to 2015 those 3 years only guarantee one major upgrade anyway if you keep up this speed.

I wonder if v2015 even includes the auto-update which you promised me for v2014 already, but I guess not since there's no mention of it on the WhatsNew ;)

That being said I guess I'll keep the v2014 setup backed up because you don't seem to have this on your website anymore (or atleast I didn't find it) and hope that the next upgrade will be cheaper (or you reconcider your price politics for 2015), so students like me can reasonably afford to upgrade.

I guess, most of the new features are no front features. I suppose I won't buy this upgrade, but maybe the next one.
Although I'm working on a webpress homepage at the moment, I could use the Wordpress framework support :).

Actually there is a huge wishlist of cosmetical aspects and PHP sugar I have, especially in the Code Editor, but I don't dare to suggest them all :)

I could imagine support of PHP Traits and Interfaces in the Code Editor.
What is ugly at most are the symbols for class members and especially the quite simple solution for declaring them as static just by adding a (st) after the member's name.

How about creating some more beautiful icons? I would suggest own icons for "abstract" (maybe a skullhead, as abstract methods are some kind of skeleton xD), "final" (i could imagine a finish flag of Formula 1) and "static (hmmm....Eclipse made just a circle with a big S inside, maybe someone got a better idea) " to be set before the actual icons for method/property, and maybe for methods and properties an own icon, available in red for private, in yellow for protected and in green for public. It's done similar in Eclipse and many other IDEs. In my very opinion this looks better and also accentuates the visibility of the members. Okay, I know those beautifying things are at the end of the ToDo list of IDE development, but maybe there are more users agreeing with me :)

Sure, don't hesitate to suggest, if suggestions already exist, we +1 them and they float upwards.

I don't get it. How can you sell a new version of Webuilder with 30% discount at: 34.96USD
https://secure.shareit.com/shareit/chec ... tid=206153

While an update from the previous version costs: 39.95 USD
http://www.webuilderapp.com/buy.php

So upgrading will cost me 4 USD MORE than just buying a new product!!.

Isn't there a similar discount available for previous customers? (I have been a registered WeBuilder user since version 2010)
As I find the (yearly) update price of 39.95 USD way too high, compared to the extra features added.
(Shaving off additional 30% on the upgrade price would be acceptable. ;) )

@ PMK65. Don't forget to add the 10% discount code (as mentioned in the original post from Karlis) to reduce the price of the upgrade to 35.95 USD.

Honestly, the new version is worth it for the big number of new features and improvements. Buying it will support the developers and remember that many more features and improvements are planned via free updates this year.

You are comparing Full Personal License price with Professional Upgrade License price. Please compare Full Personal with Personal Upgrade if you want to be fair. For me, Full Personal License with BEFIRST and without taxes is $34.96, Personal Upgrade License with BEFIRST and without taxes is $29.95.
