Prev*.hml files!?

Post by ranie »

OMG :) I know remember why I stoped using the eval the other day... The prev0~.htm files are rendering RapidPHP and RapidCSS useless for me!

Can I / How is It possible to turn It off... I work remotly on a ftp server in CMS that loads every file in a certain folder and includes It in the system... The prev0~.htm files get loaded to and is makeing changes VERY frustrating...

If thats not possible I sadly can't use your apps...

RapidPHP and RapidCSS should be tidying up after themselves and removing the prev0~.htm files as the files are saved and/or closed.

The only way to prevent them is to not use the preview window, I'm afraid.

There are several solutions:
1) Not to use internal preview.
2) To close Rapid PHP/CSS when performing the CMMS upload.

Please let me know whhether this is ok with you and if not, then why.

I work directly on a server through FTP. And we are using a CMS we made... The CMS includes every file in template/ css/ and like that...

When I do a change in the CSS on some site I save and reload the site and some times the Prev is overwriting classes in the orginal css...

One way for me would be to exclude *.htm files in that folder but In that case some thing will have to be fixed...

I tried to turn of the preview pane but It still created the prev file...

I'll find a solution for this maybe... But one question... Why do you have to create that file? I have tried few other editor and thay don't do It...

I'm not saying ur app is wrong, just wondering why this file Is created...

This file is created to allow previewing even complex CSS files that depend on other files (e.g. images). If we store preview file in say temp folder, then relative image paths would not work in preview.

I agree, however, that the file should not be created when no preview is used, so it is a thing to be corrected.

Is there a way to stop this happening yet, such as in WeBuilder 2007? No matter what settings I change I can't seem to stop these prev files being created, and I never open the preview tab and it happens when doing any kind of css/html/etc editing.

It looks like the files are generated for CSS regardless the use of preview. They are not generated for other types if you do not use the preview.

I'll check whether we can fix this in the first release of 2007.

Hmm, is there any kind of workaround for this in the meantime? I've been working on some heavy sites today at work and the prev files are beginning to seriously get in the way. I have to delete them as otherwise they'd be uploaded along with the site and confuse others working on the project.

I know it seems pedantic, but this issue is severely lessening my desire to keep working with the software until a fix is implemented.

Do you want a VB prog that automatically deletes the prev files that it finds? (Well not straightaway, as they're obviously used, but if they are say, 10mins old or older...)

aren't they all in your css folder? I would totally love to never ever see them again as well (I don't use preview either) and it is a little embarrassing when they get checked into SVN  but they're pretty easy to get rid of for me since they're all in the same folder.

Actually, since I don't use .htm (always .html) I've recently learned to set SVN to ignore all .htm files.

Have created a program you can download here;
http://www.creapsoft.co.uk/download?id=prevKiller

Its a simple prog which goes through a set of directories you've defined and deletes any prev*.htm files older than 10mins. This is done every minute.
It simply hides itself away in the notification area by the system clock.

Any problems, drop me an email, or yell on my own support forum: www.creapsoft.co.uk/support
