Agreed, this is needed.
I'd also like folders removed from the file panel.

FTP file/folder tree
Is there a way to omit the the folders from the second panel, where the files are? I would prefer just .. and files, no need to duplicate the folders, also results in needless scrolling.

Although not essential, I cannot get syntax highlighting to work for .htaccess at all, even after trying the above.
