IE 9 again doesn't find HTMLPad as source viewer
I recently installed IE9 and when I click on "view source" I get an error popup that the program "htmlpad.exe" can not be found. I went to htmlpad's Preferences => External Tools => Integration tab and unchecked, applied, re-checked and applied again but that didn't solve the issue. Any further ...

Re: How to redefine HTMLPad as IE's source editor?
I found essentially three keys that looked relevant: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\View Source Editor\Editor Name to contain a REG_SZ with value htmlpad.exe There were also a few corresponding HKEY_USERS\<some-uid>_Classes\VirtualStore ...

Re: How to redefine HTMLPad as IE's source editor?
Did as instructed: Terminated IE. Started HTMLpad. Unticked that setting. OK-ed and then terminated HTMLpad (just in case). Restarted HTMLpad, ticked that setting. OK and termianted it again. Restarted IE, but still the same error. Guess it's time to fire up the Registry-Editor and have a look ...

How to redefine HTMLPad as IE's source editor?
For some odd reason, when I want to open a Webpage's source I am getting the error message "Windows can not find 'htmlpad.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly and try again." Strange enough, if I go to IE's Tools => Internet Options => Programs the dropdown list offers HTMLpad, Word and ...

The timer *was* already set to 10 seconds. I changed it to 20 but the effect appeared again (though of course less frequent). I have changed the browser setting to "Associated" in the meantime (BTW: what is an "Associated Browser" anyway - is that the system's default browser?). "Associated" seems ...

... It seems that the IE7 is generating the pop-up. I will check whether the pop-up can be turned off. ... No - one can't in IE7. My guess is, that this is some race condition, something like that the browser is already started with the "URL"/filename while the file is not yet fully written plus ...

Do you get the "Page cannot be displayed" HTML page (as per my screenshot) too, or just a popup? No - the alert reads: The file /C:/<path_of_html_file>/prev1~.html cannot be found. Please check the location and try again. [OK] The preview window (or rather part of the window) remains untouched in ...

"the file .....\prev~.htm cannot be found..." Grrr
Hi - I upgraded to v7.4 recently and now I am extremely often getting the most annoying message "the file .....\prev~.htm cannot be found. Please check the location and try again." This was already annoying in v7.0 but is much more frequent (and thus also much more annoying!) with v7.4 now. I tried ...

I seem to have found a solution for my problem: In the Preview setting "temporary folder" I entered C:\Temp (that field was previously empty) and - strange enough - since then I have no more problems. So there obviously is some problem - at least on my system - when this is left empty. I would have ...

Yep - I can confirm this. I also did the right click thingy and the URL reads: res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm#file://C:\MyProjects\html\prev0~.html (that's the normal IE error page indicating it had problems with the URL "file://C:\MyProjects\html\prev0~.html") Looking for the ...

Since the display always disppears 3-5 seconds after the last save: could this be some timing issue, i.e. could it be that IE always reads or refreshes this while it is still being locked or written to? This is soooo annoying!!! :-( I am starting to consider some alternative HTML editor - or maybe I ...

Hi Karlis, ... You may try following: 1) Disable IE add-ins, restart everything and then see whether it has improved 2) Change IE document caching settings. Try "every visit to page". 3) In Preferences, increase auto-refresh setting to some 10 seconds or more ... I first tried 2 & 3 and that helped ...
