Here I would like to disclose our thinking so that you are informed and can make better decisions regarding the use of our software. This is not an accepted plan or promise by any means. It is merely what's in our heads and what we hope to do.
Stick to basics - speed, clarity, usability
Our strategy is and will be to keep our code editors quick, clean and tidy. Evolution by merely growing the number of features or including everything that is requested is not our way. We will be refining the existing features and carefully adding new ones that contribute to increased usability and productivity without impacting the speed and clarity.
Learn from our users
We are and will be open to any constructive feedback, even the craziest suggestions. This does not mean that we will implement all requests, but feedback is the driving force that (after careful analysis and filtering) eventually points us into the right direction. Maximum benefit for the greatest number of users is our goal.
New major releases
We hope to release major new version once every 12 - 18 months. We have been doing this for years and it is a good driving force for the team.
New features
What we hope to do:
* Explore innovative usability improvements that will help you get your work done faster
* Improve FTP/SFTP and publishing further
* Improve text searching furthermore
* Improve multi-monitor support
* Add support for new languages and libraries (e.g. Smarty etc.) OR include possibility for users to add support for their own languages
* Create plugin system
* Continue to add support for the latest programming language versions
* Possibly, do something with SQL support
* Continue processing our existing gigantic list of suggestions and requests
It is not said that we will manage any of this, but these are our thoughts at the present time.
