How to block google image search?

Postby pmedia » Fri Jun 01, 2012 1:01 am

Is there still a way to block google image search?
Since Google move from images.google.com to www.google.com/imghp?hl
I tried to add all these domains to the block list and to the hosts file , but its stiil unblocked

    t0.gstatic.com
    t1.gstatic.com
    t2.gstatic.com
    t3.gstatic.com
    tbn.l.google.com
    images.google.com
www.google.com/imghp?h (When you introduce this address its auto omits the rest /imghp?h, leaving only the primary address google.com which is a shame because if it were possible to put more detailed address so it was perfect)

what can i do???

thanks :P

There are many domains that google serves its images from, you missed encrypted-tbn1.google.com, encrypted-tbn2.google.com, encrypted-tbn3.google.com... And if Google is accessed via https (encrypted traffic) then "blocked sites" list would have no effect anyway, because images would be served from https, too.
In this case, if it's feasible in your situation, I suggest blocking all and allowing only the needed sites, which would not include Google at all.

We can't block http://www.google.com/someurl because of technical difficulties (some examples - one could write the same URL as http://www.google.co.il/imghp??hl=iw&tab=Ti or http://www.google.co.il/imghp?tab=Ti&hl=iw and many more ways to get around this filter) and we can't block the encrypted https://www.google.com/someurl because it's not only difficult but unfortunately impossible for technical reasons.
