Use a separate instance of home button in footer of page

Postby bhennink » Tue Aug 08, 2017 7:52 pm

Hi I am a happy user of Easy menu maker and I nee some assistance to solve this:
Now I try to get my site W3C clean and the only problem I have now is a copy of the home button of my menu bar in the footer.
I tried:
<ul id="mb63xkebul_table">
<li title="Home page">
<div class="buttonbg gradient_button gradient42" style="width: 79px;">
<div class="icon_1">
<a href="http://www.mrbert.nl" class="button_1">Home</a>
</div>
</div>
</li>
</ul>

But I get the error from the W3org validator.

Error: Duplicate ID mb63xkebul_table.
From line 343, column 11; to line 343, column 36
<ul id="mb63xkebul_table">↩
Warning: The first occurrence of ID mb63xkebul_table was here.
From line 101, column 3; to line 101, column 65
68px;">↩ <ul id="mb63xkebul_table" class="mb63xkebul_menulist css_menu">↩ <li

Do you have 2 menus in your site? If so, each of those need to have a different ID. You can change the ID in Easy Button & Menu Maker by opening your project and going to Misc tab and setting "Unique menu ID" to different value for each of your menus. Then you need to export the menus to HTML + CSS + JS + images once more and re-insert them into your site to fix the duplicate ID issue.

Normally Easy Button & Menu Maker would generate unique ID for each project automatically, but it's possible that you copied the first project to create the second menu, which is why you currently have the same ID for both menus.

Hi Aivars,
No I just want to use a copy of the ome button in my footer sucht that a reader does not have to jump the home page again. I know I can doo it with a text link but re-using the button is nicer;)

If you want everything to be correct and valid, even in this case where you need the same button twice, you must to generate two buttons with different IDs, even though they look and behave the same. It's not as convenient but that's HTML for you ;)

Hi Aivars,
OK then I think I just keep the text link:) Not a big deal
Or I copy the button image and use that as a normal link image.
