Webuilder 9.1.0.98 - Preview lag

Post by ltl97_99 »

Webuilder lags when toggling between the code and preview tabs and then back again.

Can you be more specific? How large is the page you have open. Do any other programs lag? Is your machine up to speed?

There are many reasons this could be happening so if you can supply a little more info we might be able to find a workaround for you.

The page is newly created. No more than one sentence of text had been added when the problem occured, with a background color of a named color.

I'm running webuilder on a dell laptop (Latitude D630) with a 2.GHz intel processor. It has 4GB of RAM. I'm running WindowXP SP3

It looks like problem occurs when I'm running XAMPP while I have Webuilder open. I have Apache and MYSQL running (neither as a service). The php executable path is set to C:\XAMPP\PHP\PHP.exe.

Thanks for the extra info. So when you shut down XAMPP the preview works OK?

The XAMPP control panel is running in background, but I've stopped Apache and MYSQL. The delay in switching between the code editor and preview tabs disappears.

It could be that the delay is because of XAMPP doing some processing. Each time you click Preview, the page is run through the web server, so the web server is engaged. Most likely the slowness occurs due to CPU usage peak caused by lagging Web server or PHP or some combo of conflicts at the moment of opening the Preview tab.

I can not reproduce this behavior here. Can you describe how long do you have to wait? Is it 1 sec, 2 sec or less than a second? If it is more than 1 sec, it is not normal.
