photosynth

Post by MaxD »

Read about this in a magazine today. http://photosynth.com which is a Microsoft program for creating amazing 3D images using lots of photos and stitching them together. You need the browser plugin to view the images. Was going to download it first and link to my first test, but Nortons said currently it was a dodgy download :? Anyone tried it?

Not bad, but the overlaying picture borders makes it look a bit crappy.

Theres better flash based zoom-in 'applets' which let you zoom around a large picture. I'll have to dig it out. Its better than this rubbish, as the user doesn't have to download plugins (well, apart from Flash) and it works across all browsers.

When I update my panoramics site I'll probably use Flash, but first I'll need more and better images. If you have something which might be useful I'll have a look. Panoramic/interactive and gigapixel images seem to be big at the mo.

I'll stil check this out though just to see what its like.
