Just a quick question; I noticed when trying to work with special characters that double-clicking to select them (as I would with any other tag or class/element) doesn't select the whole thing, just whatever 'normal' characters are there.
Example:
I insert the character for copyright: ©
Darnit, it is in the wrong place. I double-click to select it and, oops, it only has the copy bit; the & and ; are left behind. (Interestingly, as does tis forum, which leads me to think this is 'standard' behaviour for word processors/editors)
I tried this with a selection of special characters and all are the same. I know coding to copy and paste all special characters would be a chore but I thought this would be something the editor can/should do. Or not, if it is not desirable or standard practise to implement.
Perhaps this should be under feature requests?
Dave.

Re: Bug or design?
It does seem that different editors do different things when selecting text.
Also as you say, IE and Firefox behave the same as WeBuilders, just select the copy and not the & or ;
Just tried in my other editors.
One behaved like WeBuilder and another one selects © and not the ;
But I do agree with you, it would be very handy to select the whole © by double-clicking

Re: Bug or design?
I guess I never paid any attention to this but you are right, Mikey, editors do handle it differently. I just tried it in EditPlus and it highlights the & with the word but not the ;. At least WB is following suit with the browser.
Re: Bug or design?
this shouldnt be called a bug. you just drag and select.

webuilder 2010 version 10.02 (10.0.2.118) is the best !!
Re: Bug or design?
I also wouldn't call it a bug, but it would be a nice little enhancement if the double-click-select would recognize and select the entire character entity.

Re: Bug or design?
I disagree, in a way. Being an HTML editor, it should be more geared up to copying and selecting HTML related words, code, etc.daredare wrote:this shouldnt be called a bug. you just drag and select.
Also related (and mentioned elsewhere) is WeBuilders inability to drag and select (as you describe) once you've double-clicked on a word. Grr.

Re: Bug or design?
The entities are not being processed in any special way. So there is no bug, although I agree, it could work better.
