When updating from version 2010 to 2011 I tranferred my settings. Now I got all my projects into WeBuilder 2011, but all my FTP sites are gone. I know that can be done by exporting/importing the appropirate registry keys, but why isn't that done with the internal export/import function of WeBuilder?

Re: [Webuilder 2011] How to transfer my FTP sites
Strange that they didn't get saved. I recently carried out an experiment and saved settings as instructed during the uninstall process when uninstalling 2010, then installed 2011; everything was where it should be (except for my saved Views - the new layout files are not compatible by the sounds of it - which was a bit of a pain, though setting up the toolbars and panels never has been a big issue).
How did you save your settings? The save settings feature during uninstall should retain all your original project settings, whatever is in the appdata or application data folders and the ftp data in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Karlis Blumentals\Common\BuiltInFtp\Connections registry key; losing the FTP sites and nothing else seems very odd indeed. Are the FTP details still in the registry?
Cheers

Re: [Webuilder 2011] How to transfer my FTP sites
Thanks for that tip. Uninstall of version 2010 and install of 2011 preserved all ftp sites.
But actually I wanted to test WeBuilder 2011 on another computer and so I wanted to transfer all my settings and that did not work.

Re: [Webuilder 2011] How to transfer my FTP sites
To transfer the settings to another computer should be relatively easy and can be accomplished using two simple steps.
The method will differ slightly depending on whether you are transferring to a machine with the same or a different version of Windows. Make sure WeBuilder is properly installed on the target (new) machine and it might be a good idea to run it at least once, but make sure it is NOT running while copying any of the following settings over.If you follow the instructions after clicking Tools, Export Settings within WeBuilder on the machine you want to copy from, (which should display specific instructions for that machine's version of Windows) and copy them to the same place on the 'new' machine, all your custom data living in those folders will be transferred, (see below* if the source and target Windows versions do not match).
To get the rest of your settings, go to the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Karlis Blumentals
Right click on it and choose 'Export', then save the reg file, calling it anything you want, somewhere easy to locate again (your desktop is always a good place). Copy that reg file over to the 'new' machine, (once again ensuring WeBuilder is already installed on it but NOT running), then double-click the exported reg file to import the contents (or right-click on it and select 'Merge' if double-click import doesn't work for some reason). If both these steps are taken and successful, the copy of WeBuilder on the target machine will be almost identical to the copy on the old machine, with all projects, FTP, auto-replace and other custom data you've added over time transferred, (except any custom views may not be copied over, as I mentioned in my earlier post).
*If you are moving from XP to Vista/7, you can run into complications because the application data paths are different. The registry file should import to the same place so no worries as the registries (in this respect) are the same. If you are going from XP to Vista/7, copy the application data folders you copied from the XP machine to the c:\users\%username%\appdata\roaming folder instead.
Reverse both these procedures if going from Vista/& to XP.
Open WeBuilder on the target machine and everything should be there.
Good luck.

Re: [Webuilder 2011] How to transfer my FTP sites
Actually I knew how to transfer my FTP sites by importing/exporting registry keys (see my initial post), but I do not think that this is a good way to do it.
BTW I transferred them from Windows 2000 to Windows 7 without any problems by only using the "BuildInFtp" part.

My apologies, I meant no disrespect.
Windows 2K to 7; that's good to know so thanks for reporting back.
