In File Explorer, I've configured it to show files on D:\
I've opened a file on C:z and now want to get the file explorer to show the folder.
So I click on "activate folder of current file" and get told folder cannot be displayed becuase it is located outside the current folder tree root ?
What's all that about ?
I just want it to show the folder....

The answer is in the question. You have configured file explorer to show files on D:\, which does not include your file in C:\ (it cannot be displayed because of how you have configured the file explorer).

If the folder is not visible (or does not exists) in the File Explorer, the “Activate Folder of Current File” feature does not work. If fact, the feature should not work because you have selected D: as the root folder.
