More like Homesite

Post by a2d »

Hi, having used Bradbury/Allaire/Macromedia/Adobe Homesite since 1995, I spent a long time finding a replacement and Webuilder does a really good job, but there's a few things that keep bugging me:
1. FTP/File explorer.
Homesite is (was) so much better for navigating remote FTP and local filesystems. Different remote systems can be simultaneously expanded and it always remembers where you were and what was expanded. Going up and down through folders/connections in Webuilder is so much clunkier...
2. Bookmarks
Having assigned the Homesite shortcut keys CTRL+K and CTRL+SHIFT+K to Set/Remove bookmarks and cycle through bookmarks, it's frustrating that you can't "wrap" to the first bookmark when you're at the last one - it would be nice to have the option to cycle through.
3. HTML comments
This one is really annoying. Having assigned the homesite shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+M, no matter how I try, HTML comments always insert the opening part on a line before what I want commented and the closing part on a line after. I want it to insert immediately before and after on the same line. I've tried using macros but get the same result. Maybe I'm missing something.
4. CSS blocks
To be honest, I never use toolbars either in Homesite or Webuilder, preferring keyboard shortcuts or simply typing. Therefore it's really annoying that when you've got the caret in an inline Style block or when editing a css file, the CSS toolbar appears even when I've turned it off.
5. Split code window
Don't use it in Homesite that often, but really useful when you do want it, especially since bookmarks don't cycle (2 above)

Thanks for a great product and keep up the good work!

I just wanted to address a few of those points:
1. To disable CSS toolbar auto-display, go to Options -> Preferences -> Language Options -> CSS
2. I can't reproduce the problem with comments - for me the opening comment tag appears right before the selection and the closing tag right after the selection, on the same line. What I'm doing is simply selecting something and clicking Insert -> Comment.
