There is no need to migrate settings as they are shared. Just be careful when uninstalling old version - choose to keep your settings (if you uninstall 2011 and choose to remove the settings, all settings will be lost).
Please note that
1) old interface style setting may have been disregarded in version 2014 but it can be easily changed from the View menu
2) due to big structural changes toolbar/panel/menu customizations can not be moved from 2010/2011 to 2014, however in the future they will be saved between next updates
3) SQL settings might not move properly if you continue using both old and new verson, so you may have to re-enter them
other than that, mostly all else should move smoothly...
Bonus:
As of version 2014 it is easy to export/import settings. From the options menu just click Export/Import Settings to save/load settings from a single settings export file (which is actually a zip file of all your settings files and registry entries).

Re: Migrating settings from 2011/2010 to 2014
Hi,
I installed the Beta on my system, where webuilder 2011 ist installed. But no setting (ftp-favorites, projects, snippets) from version 2011 will be visible in the 2014-beta.

Re: Migrating settings from 2011/2010 to 2014
1) Note that settings from other product titles (e.g. Rapid PHP) cannot be automatically imported into WeBuilder
2) Make sure you are NOT using portable / USB version neither of 2011 nor 2014. Though this is not confirmed as it should kind-of work with portable version too...
To check that you are not using portable mode, make sure that there is no settings.dat file under:
C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Blumentals\WeBuilder\settings [in Win 7 or equivalent under other systems]
3) Make sure both products are installed from the same Windows user account
4) Make sure you are not using any sandbox or safe-environment utilities, but install version 2014 normally along with all other programs under Program Files.
Basically you can investigate what is going on under:
C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Blumentals\WeBuilder\settings
And the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Karlis Blumentals\WeBuilder\7.0

Re: Migrating settings from 2011/2010 to 2014
Hi.
1) I use webuilder 2011
2) No settings.dat under C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Blumentals\WeBuilder\settings
3) same user account
4) ok
I don't know, where the settings of my webuilder 2011 will be stored. I can rename C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Blumentals with no effect to the webuilder 2011 settings. Do you know, what's to do, to find it out?

Re: Migrating settings from 2011/2010 to 2014
Except that settings aren't shared: I've tried to install v2014b3 a couple of times, without touching my v2011, and every time WB2011 settings didn't apply to v2014; on the contrary, they got run over and disappeared.Karlis wrote:There is no need to migrate settings as they are shared. Then this must be something specific to very few specific systems only, because all is fine for 99% of users. Which particular settings were lost in your case?
Please note that the following can not be transferred due to radical improvements (for greater gain):
* toolbar and side-panel sizes and positions as well as menu customizations
* some syntax color settings for some programming languages
* some SQL connection settings
* also HTML5 and CSS3 is switched on upon installing WeBuilder 2014 (because XHTML and CSS2 are out of date), but those who have to use legacy standards can easily switch back and once that is done, those settings are preserved from that point on
* there is a bug in Beta that causes file associations to be reset, this will be fixed in final version
other than the ones mentioned above, all of your other settings should be kept intact...

Re: Migrating settings from 2011/2010 to 2014
Hi,
the 2014 beta will not use the FTP- and project-settings and the snippets of my webuilder 2011 installation. It seems, that only the 2014 beta will use the settings in .../user/AppData/Roaming/Blumentals/WeBuilder/settings and I can't find the location, where 2011 will storage his settings.

Re: Migrating settings from 2011/2010 to 2014
I search my system for the projects.ini.
So I find the settings for webuilder 2011 on this location:
...user/AppData/Local/VirtualStore/Program Files/WeBuilder 2011/settings
and but not used in /Programme/WeBuilder2011/settings
for webuilder 2014:
.../user/AppData/Roaming/Blumentals/WeBuilder/settings
I copy the 2011 settings-folder to .../user/AppData/Roaming/Blumentals/WeBuilder/ and now, 2014 will use this copy of the 2011 settings.

Re: Migrating settings from 2011/2010 to 2014
The only reason why this could have happened would be the abuse of portable mode (e.g. you did the Install on USB, but instead of installing on USB, installed under Program Files).
