I've been a fan of Rapid CSS 2005 and finally treated myself to the WeBuilder 2005 program today since I thought it would have more bells and whistles (concerning the HTML coding).
I went into my html file and changed the doc type to the XHTML 1.0 transitional from HTML 4.0, however, when I viewed my page, it changed it and moved things around. I went to check in the help file to see what I could fix and that's when I saw --- there really is NO help! I was hoping to rely on this program to help me along as I learned. Of course I use the W3C, but was hoping for some updated help files, too.
However, I thought I would continue learning, but unfortunately I came upon some sort of quirk or something. Why do all the DOC types within the program begin with the HTML 4.01 doc type, but yet the help files are ONLY for HTML 4.0? Nothing on XHTML, or the additions within HTML 4.01 are in the HTML Help file. How can this be? The program was updated but not the Help files....???
Thank you,
DianeD

The help files are taken from the Web Design Group (http://www.htmlhelp.com/reference/) and are indeed quite outdated now.
As you point out, the W3C reference is the most comprehensive and up-to-date.
v2005 is coming to the end of its life, but v2006 is waiting in the wings, ready to continue racing forward ... with an updated help file!
I'm sure its on the list of things to do. As a programmer too, I know the documentation is right at the bottom of the things I like doing!

XHTML is not that much differrent from HTML. You can learn about the differrences here:
http://www.w3schools.com/xhtml/xhtml_intro.asp
If somebody can provide nicely compiled, standalone, royalty-free HTML reference in HTML or Help file format, I'll be more than happy to use it.
Currently the WDG help files are the only ones available for us to be freely used in our products. And although a bit outdated, they are not very bad at all.

Re: Do I have correct Help File??
I realise the last post on this subject was some time ago but I wondered whether the help files (css, html, php) distributed with WeBuilder (9.5.2.106) were still the only ones that could be published 'Royalty free' or whether any of them had been updated and just not included with the later releases?
Or is there a way of including helpfiles we can download ourselves and have them appear in the 'help' menu list?
thanks for a great product.
Robert

Re: Do I have correct Help File??
We have not managed to find new and cool royalty-free redistributable help files for this. We are still searching for partnerships with authors.
