FTP save/save to FTP feature

Post by rfresh1011 »

Using v18.3

Is there any way to upload my current file to my FTP server AND save it to my local disk -- with one hotkey? The programming editor I am coming from supported that work flow and that's what I am used to. But I can't get this software to work in a like manner. Saving to FTP seems like there are a lot of extra steps (unless I am doing it wrong) because when the FTP window opens I have initiate a connection which seems odd it doesn't keep once I open an FTP connection. Every FTP client I've used in my life once connected maintains that conneciton. I don't have re-connect everytime I want to save a file to the FTP server. So I must not be doing something right. Like clicking something to tell HTMLpad to maintain the FTP connection?

If you use projects, you can specify project's FTP directory in Publishing Settings of Project Properties. Then you can use menu Project -> Save and Upload File to FTP. I sue this feature all the time, I have added it to toolbar and assigned shortcut to it (Options -> Keyboard Shortcuts).

Hello!
The workflow you're looking for, saving to both a local disk and FTP with a single hotkey, is supported in HTMLPad but requires you to set up a project. The key is to use the Project Manager to link your local files to their corresponding remote locations. Once your project is configured, you can typically use the F9 key, or a similar publish command, to save the file locally and simultaneously upload the changes to your FTP server. This method also helps maintain a persistent FTP connection, so you don't have to reconnect for every save.
