Losing FTP connection - help

Post by alimart »

I am a new convert to WeBuilder.

Been using Dreamweaver for a few years but always seemed to find myself down amongst the coding to get what I wanted. WeBuilder is the answer.

However, there is one feature that annoys me. Maybe I am doing something wrong.

Scenario is I have ten pages open in my workspace. I want to publish them all. Every time I publish a page, I get asked about files to update (fair enough), then have to open FTP connection to save.

Next page I have to go through same rigmarole. Can't I just keep the FTP connection open and publish each page in turn without having to reopen each time?

If someone is going to say RTFM, then fair enough, but which page?

Look forward to hearing your answers

Have you created a project? If you set up the FTP details here, then when you want to update a page, you simply right click the file and select 'Upload to FTP' and it logs in, uploads, and disconnects - you do nothing else. It doesn't matter how 'deep' in the directory structure it is, WeBuilder will put it in the right place.

WeBuilder will even tell you what files you've changed in the last x days, so you can upload just these ones.

Yell if you want an example, and I'll knock up a demo, showing what to do.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for that answer. I thought I had set up a project.
The site I'm working on was based on a Dreamweaver template which is now irrelevant.
I'll revisit setting up a project and see if I can sort out using the method you suggest.

If I can't get it to work, I'll send you a PM
Thanks again
A.

If you can't get it to work, post back here, rather than a PM - it'll help someone else then.

Yeah, Chris is right!

Also, about projects - if you have defined a project it should be very easy to upload to ftp ... with a single or only few clicks.
