No preview and no creation

After I import pictures or video in the supported formats, complete all other options I want then click "Preview" a notepad window opens "SSPREV.scr" then frezes and does nothing. I tried also just producing the screen saver, but that has the same result. I'm running Windows XP Media center edition and the PC is less then 1 year old. Please help.
