Execute File

Post by John Mull »

HTMLPad is well aimed at the web page creation market. However, I could shed an extra text editor if HTMLPad were able to execute scripts such as Perl, Python, Ruby, or even VBScript from within the environment. Of course other editors do it. My purpose is to use only a single editor, if possible.

Under the Launch menu, there is currently a way to start an external program. If it were possible to add parameters there, then we would have the makings of an excellent IDE as well as HTML editor.

The ability to capture the output of a launched program and display the results in a dockable window would be quite handy for the IDE.

Additional syntaxes, as mentioned in other posts, would be helpful as well. Code completion is not so much an issue for me, but I'd definitely like to be able to collapse and expand code sections and have the Code Inspector pickup functions from the script.

Just a few $0.02 from a new customer.

Something of this most likely will come in version 2008. Thanks for your feedback.
