collaboration features

Post by drjee »

Hi,

I don't know if it is possible, but it would be nice to have collaboration features like in eg MoonEdit be integrated in WeBuilder.

They are working on SVN support which may help you.

Hi Cary,

looking forward to SVN-support. However, the collaboration features I am asking for are completely different from Version control which SVN offers. I would like to have the ability to live-share documents, ie to see the cursor input of my collaboration partners (and that they see mine). Just download MoonEdit and you wiill see what I mean. But MoonEdit is a very basic editor, so it would be great to have the same functionality integrated into WeBuilder.

Yes, I had taken a look at the way Moonedit does it which is why I thought of the SVN approach. Have you actually used the Moonedit approach to this? I can't help thinking it would be terribly irritating, unless maybe you're all talking to each other at the same time, explaining what it is you're doing or going to do, so you don't have two or more people actually trying to edit the same line at the same time.

exactly, we use SVN for version control (and actually TortoiseSVN is all we need for that, no real need for the editor to support it directly) and use MoonEdit to explain and show each other things. since there are good tools for SVN but there is a lack of full featured editor which support MoonEdit-like live-collaboration, I believe it would be a great thing if WeBuilder had it.
