files on a network drive
I have just installed the demo app. The one issue I'm having is accessing files from the network. My data files are generally on a remote computer which I connect to via a UNC path (i.e. \\server\share\path\filename.ext). If I use File - Open I can access files this way, but I can't seem to list files from the remote directory in the file explorer. Is there a way to view My Network Places to connect to the remote server? Or, must I map a drive letter first?
Hello,
I've never thought of this before as I always use mapped drives.
I see no way of using UNC paths or My Network Places in the file explorer.
I just had a look at the other editors I have, and only one allows you to browse Network Folders from it's file explorer, and then it doesn't remember them between uses, all others only allow access to drive letters.
Would be a nice addition thinking about it, there are odd times I need a file that is not on one of our main servers, so have to map it first to get it.

I have been using Homesite for the last six years, and I like it, but never liked the cost since Macromedia bought it out, and now that Adobe owns it, there have not been updates in a very long time. Homesite allows me to work this way. I can browse the network in the file manager by selecting My Network Places - Entire Network - Microsoft Windows Network - Domain/Workgroup - Server - Share. I also set my default startup directory to the UNC path, so I don't have to dig down to the path I'm looking for each time.
Now, I also sent this question to tech support. They said that I can connect to the UNC path if I create a project. So, I defined a project that uses \\server\share as the path, and that seems to be working fine. When I close and open WeBuilder, it starts up in the last project that I worked in, so that seems to do the trick. It would still be nice to be able to do this from the file manager directly, but at least there is a solution.

Set network drive as upload location?
Is it possible to set a networked drive as the upload location?
For example, I have a site we run internally and I want to use WeBuilder to work on it. In Dreamweaver I was able to define a Local/Network drive as the destination so I could work on the files locally and then post them once I was happy with them. Is there a way to do that using WeBuilder?
Great program! I have started using it instead of Dreamweaver because of the serious overhead DW takes. Much nicer to have the app open in a second or two rather than waiting almost a minute for it to come up.
