I am very much used to Topstyle and the way they handle external programs/editors accessing currently edited files. When adding an external program you are asked to choose a parameter - should the changes be made to current document, current preview, current selection or current word. Webuilder does not specify it at all.
How it is important?
I work in iso-8859-2 encoding which is not supported by Webuilder (nor Topstyle, nor Homesite, sadly). The workaround is to use an external converter to change the encoding, preferably from withing the HTML editor to save (loads of) time as it is done quite often. To encode a document in Topstyle I only need to define an external converting tool and assign the parameter (current file). When the converter is launched from within Topstyle it converts the currently edited file, end of story.
When I hook an external converter to Webuilder the converter is launched all right but it does not convert the current file as it cannot find any source file. I need to manually open the file in the converter, convert it, save, return to Webuilder and reload.
This is just one small example of how the parameters for external tools/editors can be useful. Maybe you'll find time to implement them!

Re: Parameters for external programs/editors
Has the current selection or current word parameters been added yet? I notice it works in the Help menu but not in the external programs.
