I upgraded WeBuilder 2007 to the latest release - Version 8.31 (8.3.1.81) and began having problems with connecting to the server via FTP. I see that it attempts to connect, then it reports "Busy", followed by error window with the following message "FTP Error: Access denied or file not found". This is on Win XP Pro SP2.
I know that it can't be the web server, because I use the exact same address and credentials to connect using FileZilla. I have also tried uninstalling and then installing WeBuilder to the same result.

There is a trial version of v9. Have you tried that?

Few months again. But I downloaded a fresh install tonight thinking that there might be a fix, but I still have the same problem. I guess it was still the same release version as when I performed the upgrade.
I haven't tried the WB08 version, because at the moment I am not planning to upgrade to the new version.

In version 2008 we have completely re-written all of the FTP features from ground up. Initial tests have shown that the new FTP algorithms are more stable and compatible even with many FTP servers that do not comply to RCF (standard that defines the FTP protocol along with other protocols). The previous implementation found in v 2005 - 2007 worked only with RCF compliant FTP servers.
You are welcome to try v2008 trial. You can have both v2007 and v2008 installed at the same time, just be careful, once both versions are install, do not perform uninstall before you have backed up your settings.

I resolved this by configuring my FTP server to provide RFC style responses.
