Library location

Post by merle »

I've searched the archives for the answer, but couldn't find it. Is it possible to move the library location from the default path? I wanted to move it to a shared network folder.

There doesnt appear to be any way to have the library file shared between two computers; while you can share the library.xml file easily enough, there is no way (I can see) to alter the path pointing to that xml file within WeBuilder itself (or in the registry, unless it is hidden somewhere other than the default locations). One possible way would be to export your settings every now and then from your 'main' machine to your 'second' machine so that they always have the same settings, which I think includes snippets and library items.

Perhaps you can put forward a feature request fora more workable solution.

Yes, it is not possible to share library.xml, but it is possible to copy it, of course.

I was actually looking to have a shared library for multiple developers. We are in the process of creating a code library that multiple developers can add to and access.

Thanks! Great product even though it won't work for our needs. (PM me when you can have shared libraries and support JSP  )

You can use SVN to share you library.xml file. make a new project with the library.xml folder as it's root (/appdata/username...) and use Webuilder's Tortoise integration to update it when you start your session.

Hi Adam. You can find it here: C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Application Data\Blumentals\WeBuilder\settings

Or, for Vista users, it is here:

C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Blumentals\WeBuilder\settings

Note that the 'Application Data' folder will be hidden, so you may have to unhide it.
Crappy example here:

(At least, an XP example)
