export settings in wb 9.0
when i do 'export settings' i get this explanation to go to a certain path folder, this has changed, in older wb versions it just said to export a register string so you could keep your pref and the other stuff was just if you wanted to export your prefs to another computer, now i wonder how do i save my prefs(ftp loggins, layout etc..) ?
webuilder 2010 version 10.02 (10.0.2.118) is the best !!
Re: export settings in wb 9.0
The export dialog tells you how to do it; by grabbing the entire current user's 'profile' folder you are getting all the relevant files and can then copy them to a new machine. This doesn't grab some settings though and there has been another thread talking about that particular aspect of the export process. I believe you can still grab registry keys for those settings, though I haven't tried this personally so I can't say whether it works or not.
I am surprised the software is not capable of grabbing and exporting these files automaticaly; determining the path to the files is no problem because it is displayed in the export dialog. All you guys in the know; is there any reason why the process cannot be done automatically?
Dave.

Well, it essentially does the same thing whether you use the data on another machine or an existing one; it saves your prefs.daredare wrote:well i dont want to export my pref to another pc , just want to save them before uninstalling.

Re: export settings in wb 9.0
ok, anyway this process has changed since 9.0 i guess, this has me a bit nervous to lose my prefs.
edit; this would mean that i dont need to do anything in the case that the uninstallation of wb doesnt delete the pref folder ?

The new system is better because it preserves more of your settings (almost everything). If follow the instructions and backup the settings folder, there should be no loss of any essential settings.
