HTMLPad Editor Font

Post by davenz »

Hi guys, this my first post here.

I have been using Blumentals tools for a few years now (RapidCSS first and then graduating to HTMLPad) but one thing bugs the bejingers out of me; the inability to select my favourite font (verdana or Calibri) in the Editor view. Instead, all I get are ugly-looking fonts to choose from and they are all terrible to work with. Please add the ability to choose a decent font; if I am to spend many hours looking at code I want it to look good to my eye - not the font some designer somewhere thinks is what I should like.

Other than that, it is fantastic software.

I don't think it's an issue of what some designer thinks is good - I think the fonts are limited to fixed-width fonts. This is a common restriction in text editors, but maybe Karlis can expand on whether supporting proportional fonts is in the cards.

Ah, that explains it, thanks. Mind you, just about every other editor I tried has this feature so maybe a later version might have it.

Thanks again.

I'm afraid we do not plan to support other types of fonts. If you would like to do the coding in Verdana, you will have to switch to another tool. This is a technical limitation of the design and since 99% of developers are good with the present situation, because fixed fonts are the standard for programming, we do not plan to change it. I'm really hate to disappoint you :(

Thanks for your honesty.

I just purchased Webuilder 08 so it isn't a deal-breaker, just ugly to look at.

Thanks again.

Dave, there are a load of fixed width fonts out there. Maybe you can find something that works better for you.

http://www.lowing.org/fonts/ has a big list.
