Export Settings

Post by jerm »

I notice that in Rapid PHP 2008, there is no longer an option in Export Settings to save a registry file, but simply an instruction to make a back-up of the "settings" folder. Presumably, the settings folder now contains all of the required data and the registry file is no longer needed. Is this correct?

Yes, that is correct. The settings are stored in a file and are exported using not the windows provided API function, but custom procedures.
If I am not wrong, then previously there were settings that could not be exported, but now all settings should be transferred (with exception the ones that are related to location of files on your current hard drive, for example, the files you have recently used).
Kind regards,

OK - thanks for that Gatis. I back-up settings and files regularly. Having sufferred six hard disk failures in as many years I learned the importance of backing-up everything the hard way!

I presume that's the same for WeBuilder 2008 too, then.

I just noticed while uninstalling WeBuilder 2007 and updating WeBuilder 2008 to the latest build that the registry file saving stage of Export Settings was no longer there.

All marvellous.
