HTML Tidy/Validator Issue

Post by brandonp »

I have Rapid CSS 2006 (v7.4.0.70) and upgraded from an older version (I upgraded quite some time ago), but I noticed that the 'HTML Tidy' feature doesn't have the presets that the previous version did.

Is there any place to download presets or anything I can do to get better HTML clean up with this program?

Sorry, could you just confirm - does it have *no* presets, or just not the custom presets you had previously (ie, its now just got the default ones)

ZERO presets. I had to create one, but it's not nearly as effective as the presets were (like "clean & validate") in the previous version.

Try downloading this tidy.dat file, and placing it in:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Blumentals\Rapid CSS\settings

http://www.creapsoft.co.uk/downloads/tidy.dat
.

hmmm... that's odd. There are still no presets, just the 'configure tidy' button:

Maybe you did not copy the file to the right folder OR maybe the program was open when you did this.

The program must be closed and the file must be placed in the same folder where the old tidy.dat file resides. If there is not old tidy.dat, it means you are doing something wrong.

You can also try to uninstall and re-install.

OK, I just resaved that .dat file and put it in the following folder (while the program was closed):

C:\Documents and Settings\******\Application Data\Blumentals\Rapid CSS\settings

Still nothing.

One thing I noticed was the information in the .dat file:

Code: Select all

<script>window.location='/file.php?fileid=tidy.dat';</script>
SHouldn't that have information on the presets? Maybe the .dat file is the issue?

The file is ok.

Are you sure the C:\Documents and Settings\******\Application Data\Blumentals\Rapid CSS\settings folder is correct? Can you see the other settings files there?

The easiest way to check is to create some new tidy tasks manually and then see where the program stores them, this way you will be able to observe which is the right tidy.dat file to be replaced.

This is all I see in that folder. FYI, I verified that this is the only folder/user name on this machine that has the Blementals folder.

Well, this is not the correct folder or there might be something wrong. There should be a lot more settings files. Search your whole drive for another tidy.dat file.

I didn't find that file anywhere else.

This is my work computer, so I will work with my network admin and reinstall. I will post after I do that and see if it fixed.

I have the same problem with Webuilder 2008. I have tried Carlis' suggestion, and even put the tidy.dat in the /programs/Webulder folder. Doesn't work.
