Image insertion through thumbnails (HTMLPad)

Post by midipixel »

Hi. IĀ´ve just bought HTMLPad after a short period of trial. ItĀ´s really an amazing editor and IĀ´m currently replacing Homesite with it. IĀ´m happy to be a part of its user community now :)

However, I was unable to find a way to insert images from thumbnails. . IĀ´ve tried searching for a thumbnail preview mode at the file explorer, and IĀ´ve tried to drag image files from windows explorer to html pad, with no success.

Although I do save images with proper names, IĀ´m really visually oriented when it comes to inserting them into html. ItĀ´s a lot quicker for me to identify an image from its subject then having to browse for the proper file name from a list. I noticed that the insert image dialog has a thumbnail preview, but you have to go through 2 windows before getting there and you have to select a file to be able to preview it. So, this method doesnĀ´t solve my problem. I must be able to drag nĀ´drop or double click the thumbnail, just as IĀ´d do with file names at the file explorer.

Is there a way to achieve this functionality?

I wrote an HTML Image Code Creator program. Its not great, but might do the job.

You can select multiple images to create the code. Code is copied to the clipboard, so you can just paste it into WeBuilder, etc.

Hey, thanks for that Chris. I assume that HTMLPad canĀ´t provide this functionality after all, right?

It would be great if your program could run as a plugin inside of HTMLPad, so that the image paths would be relative to the fileĀ´s folder. :)

Anyway, itĀ´s an useful app. ItĀ´ll be perfect once you implement a browsing function, so I donĀ´t have to type the folder name.

I doubt it'll be available as a plugin - HTMLPad doesn't support plugins! Also, HTMLPad doesn't support plugins. Admittedly thats the same reason, but quite important, so thought I'd mention it twice. ;)

I'll sort the browsing out - thats do-able.

At the present moment there is no thumbnails mode. You can, however, use HTML image tag insertion command and then click Browse and select Thumbnails mode in the Open dialog window.
