Auto Complete goes off the bottom of screen

Post by MikeyB »

Hi,

Just come across a problem with the Auto Complete in WeBuilder 7.4 (7.4.0.70)

If editing towards the bottom of the WeBuilder window, the Auto Complete pop-up list will go off the bottom of the screen, and the options down the list are impossible to see.

See the attached screen shot to see what I mean...

In the screen shot anything below "onmousedown" is impossible to see.

Cheers
Mike

You are correct. This must be included in the schedule for one of the next updates.

Just noticed that this bug has re-appeared, currently using WeBuilder 9.1.0.98

This was fixed not long after originally posted, but now it's back!

I'm not sure I get what you mean, but if you mean what I think you mean, mine doesn't do it. I tried to get as close to the bottom of the screen as possible and the autocomplete dialogue sits as low as the taskbar but won't go any further.

Is that what you meant??

Crikey, yes, it does too. My build is 9.1.0.98, so I don't know if that makes the difference...

I'm using 9.1.0.98 and do get the problem:

One other "odd" thing I just noticed when taking the screen shot.
If, after the auto-complete list has gone off the bottom of the screen I press back-space to close it, all is fine, but if I press Esc or click the mouse else where in the document the list will go, but will leave bits behind still on screen, best seen on the screen shot below:

This is hardly anything to worry about, just thought it something odd!

Very odd. I'm using Vista, not sure if that makes a difference, Try as I might, I can't get that to go off the bottom of my screen.

This has navar been fixed and it has been there by design for ages. I do have it in the list of "low priority tasks", but since this is not very important, it is sitting there before other more important things get done.

I wonder what causes it to work on some machines and not on others? If it is there by design, how come I got lucky because it doesn't manifest here? Strange, though this machine of mine does strange things most of the time!

@Mike: I have seen artefacts like that before, though oddly not with the auto-complete dialogue. I will try and replicate and post as this may somehow be related to the menu-off-the-bottom-of-the-screen issue, though it also may not be.

Strange you say that because in one of the WeBuilder 2007 updates this problem was fixed on my PC.
Actually just found I still had WeBuilder 2007 8.3.1.81 installed and it works fine, the auto complete pop-up does not go off the bottom of the screen.

This has only started happening again since WeBuilder 2008 was released.

Most likely it is affected by something else then. I surely know that that part of the code has never been touched as it is a third party code. Will look into this as time permits.
