File Explorer scrolls to the right.

Post by MikeyB »

Hi,

I've got one of those annoying "random bugs"...

I use File Explorer set to Combined View.
Occasionally when I tab back to WeBuilder from another application the File Explorer file list has scrolled to the right, and instead of the file names I now see the dates & times of the files.
The problem is there is no horizontal scroll bar on the file list so I can't scroll it back across to the file names.
Have to click to another folder and back again to show the file names.

This does not happen every time, only very occasionally, not even once a day.

A couple of screen grabs:

Try pressing F5 to see if that refreshes it.
I expanded the window, which displays the other columns, and resized it down again, which recreated this effect. Pressing F5 seemed to refresh the display (ala Explorer refresh). However, after that, I couldn't duplicate it again.

When it happens again I'll try F5, never thought of trying that.

And you're right, expanding the file explorer window reveals the hidden columns, wonder why there is no horizontal scroll bar to show this hidden info, it's crying out for one.

How on earth can you get dates and attributes of the files. There is no such feature... Utterly strange.

Windows version?

I agree, how did you get the Windows explorer Details view happening there? I can't...

Windows XP Pro SP2, WeBuilder 9.2.0.100

Just simply expand the File Explorer window to the right and I can see the following columns:
File name, file size, file type, date, attributes
But there are no column headers, see attached screen dumps:

Also when floating and showing local C: drive rather than a network drive:

I just installed WeBuilder on the laptop and it does the same, again Windows XP Pro SP2

I can see it too if I stretch the window far enough. Only in "combined" or "list" view though.

xp pro sp2, wb 9.1.0.98

Ah, OK, in 'Combined View' I can get the details and no scroll bar if I really widen that window; I can see if that moved anywhere it could get interesting!

Yes forgot to post that.
It works in Combined and List View, but not in Tree View.

Just had this happen when switching from Code Explorer back to File Explorer, can only see the right half of the file names (got 6 ".gif" at the top of the list!)
Pressing F5 to refresh brings the file names back into view.

But as is typical, do it again and it's fine, in fact I've been back & forth between File Explorer, Inspector and Code Explorer all morning and it's only just done it.

Too weird. I had one of those issues too the other day. I came back to WeBuilder while checking something in my browser and there was no title at the top of the WeBuilder window. Usually, the current file path shows there and I often check it to make sure I am working on the correct file (sometimes I edit straight off my pen drive). This time I looked and - nothing. I minimised the window, then maximised it again and there it was. Either I am going mad and it was there all along (possible) or it was gone and 'refreshing' the window brought it back (more likely). Of course, I could not replicate it to take a screenshot; the one here is just a fake to show what I mean.

Hi Dave,

There is a separate thread about that problem already:

Doh! Sorry for the dupe thread; never noticed the other one, which is odd as it isn't that long ago...

You are right about data columns. I'll check this.
