Bug on Search / Replace, on International fonts

Post by tzveeka »

Hello,

I'd really like to get more of my israeli students to use webuilder, but hebrew support is still not good enough mainly because of the missing search function described below.

Here's the issue.
I installed the latest webuilder 2008 version (9.3.0.1.1)

and started a new document with the plain and simple hebrew word on it "shalom" which means hello in hebrew (docuemnt is in UTF-8).
and started a new "entire scope" search for the whole word "שלום" - webuilder gives back an "search string not found error".

this can be seen in this image: Image

The problem origin might reside here:

once clicking on the "Multi Line" button the hebrew text in the search textbox converts to non-unicode gibrish which is probably what webuilder was looking to find in the document.

This can be seen in this image: Image

and the last thing when clicking on singleline button - the text converts to "??????"

Hebrew text search is really important to me, can this issue be solved please?

Currently single-line Find mode does not support Unicode (we are working to fix the support). However if you use the multi-line editing mode (do not switch from single, just enter text in multi-editor), the search should work already in this version.

Thanks for the answer Karlis, But -

It seems like multiline search also has it's problem which basically makes it unusable and this is why:

when entering the text "this cruel word" in hebrew and then searching for "this" the first result i get is the word "this" which got selected, but then when i "find next" "cruel" gets selected, and when i find next again "word" gets selected - thus rendering the search function to actually search for a 4 letter word and not the actual word i have been searching for - but a word which has the same amount of charecters like i have inserted in the search box.

This is demostrated in the following 3 images:
1: the term "shalom" (in hebrew) is being searched in the whole page for the first time and found on the first exact word:
Image

2: the term "shalom" (in hebrew) is being searched again in the whole page for the second time and found on the word "olam" (which isn't shalom):
Image

3: the term "shalom" (in hebrew) is being searched again in the whole page for the third time and found on the word "achzar" (which isn't shalom):

Can this be fixed?

This will be fixed but it may take a few months as we are fully loaded with work at the moment.

Thanks karlis,

This basic support is really important,

once fixed, I'll post my support for the webuilder editor under local php development sites.

Hang on, please. This has been resolved in development version I have. The implementation of Unicode for search was long and painful. You will most likely get it with the next update whenever it will come out, but not later than March. The update is very big - many new features, so we are taking time to test.
