Multiple instances of WeBuilder
Does anyone know if there is an option somewhere that would enable me to run more than one instance of WeBuilder at a time?
Whenever I try to load a second instance of the editor it just causes the current instance to flash in the task bar.

I have a dual monitor display on my development machine and sometimes its nice to be able to have the same program maximised on both monitors... You would also get to view a lot more text at the same time than you do on a horizonal / vertical spilt as shown on a single monitor.Karlis wrote:Probably you can explain the need for this in-depth so that the rest of us can better understand why would anybody need this.
It would be nice to have a setting for something like this. Programming enviroments like Delphi and VS both allow you to have multiple instances open. I sometimes fire up two instances of Delphi switch between 2 different projects I'm working on or to remind myself of how I did something in one project. Haven't you ever needed/wanted to do something like that?
Re: Multiple instances of WeBuilder
Sorry for bringing up a 3 year old post,
But after searching I haven't found a solution for this.
I too am working with a dual monitor, most of the time i'm copying data from one page to the other and because webuilder runs as one instance, I use notepad or lacking editors on the other monitor to open other files or the same file.
using notepad doesn't have the color coding and all the extra features that webuilder has, like tag selection (ctrl Q) and and code collapse.
Is there an option of opening a new instanse for this reason ?

yeah. you can run multiple instance of this software using vmware thinapp. i've tried it myself. or if it's too complicated to use, try altiris virtualization program (that i'm not sure) but i think it offers same features as thinapp.
Re: Multiple instances of WeBuilder
Thanks for the reply,
Though these apps are quite large in scale,
Any other and maybe less consuming workarounds ?

Re: Multiple instances of WeBuilder
I have found a true solution for this, posting here for whoever might need a solution for this aswell.
didn't have much success with vmware thinapp or altiris virtualization,
also using the winXP "run as" in multiple variations didn't help as well, coping the directory to another one didn't help, webuilder just kept on blinking whenever i tried to execute it again.
the solution is easy, simple and free:
1. install sanboxie [v. 1.5 is a freeware], if you can afford buy the latest version you can try the trial the software is great.
2. drag and drop the webuilder exe / shourtcut to exe to sanboxie. you'll instantly get a new instance of webuilder opened.
i'm not affiliated to sandboxie or webuilder, just one who found a way around this.

Re: Multiple instances of WeBuilder
Do you mean Sandboxie? It's up to version 3.34 now, and it's free for personal use. However, after 30 days it does start to nag (but you are permitted to continue using it) and a few features are disabled unless you pay.tzveeka wrote:1. install sanboxie [v. 1.5 is a freeware]

Hi tim,
it's good to know people are still visiting forums after 3 years of posting messeges
Yeah, I mean sandboxie, I tried almost 20 possible ways to run two instances of webuilder and only sandboxie worked eventually.
evrsion 1.5 was freeware so you wont even get the nag screen on it, it's just super rare.

Re: Multiple instances of WeBuilder
I wonder how many of you would need to run two copies of WeBuilder? If you do need this, simply reply with a "+1". It would be easy to count. If the number is significant, we may consider including a feature that allows this. So far I counted only 3

It's a good feature. I use multiple displays too. there are often situations who is it needed. in the past, i used jedit, often with three or more instances.

I have a 3-monitor desktop and I stretch the program window to cover two monitors. But it would be nice to allow two instances. Trying to get all the windows to fit inside the program view, Windows > Tile Vertically, can be a hassle since the program doesn't remember window sizing to restore after shutting down. Anything you can do to improve the development envirnment settings such as this will be helpful.
