What are lines with red background?

Post by kAlvaro »

When I click on the gutter to select one of more lines, most of the times the line gets a strong red background and a red bullet on top of the line number. They remain that way until I click on the bullet.

What is it for? I haven't been able to find any reference to this in the program help (possibly because I don't know what to search for beyond "red" or "bullet").

Breakpoints. You use these for debugging. If you do not know what it is, most likely you do not need it for now.

I understand, thank you. Once you know what it is it's easy to find the appropriate reference.

I'd say that selecting lines is a more common operation that setting debugging breakpoints but I guess you are not going to change this GUI behaviour now

Only half of the gutter is breakpoint sensitive. If you click more to the right, it will not set a breakpoint.

It would be nice if the breakpoint toggle could be deactivated in the settings.
If you do not use the debugger this toggle is quite anoying :-)

2014: a new program version with very nice color, text & font tools.
Sadly it didn't add an option in the settings to deactivate the toggle breakpoint.
It is still a constant annoyance while selecting a block of code and accidently activating the toggle on releasing the mouse button.
Can you please put this on the wishlist?
